"I'D CERTAINLY CALL THAT A MIRACLE!" | |
|
Recently I was driving my car, and being at a stoplight intersection, waiting for the light to change to green, I felt a enormous crash with an accompanying “wham”! It was me, being hit from behind by a vehicle that was traveling full speed through the lights! Apparently the young man, that hit me, fell asleep at the wheel (for a second) and when he collided with me he woke up! As it was 8:15 a.m. and he said he didn’t drink or take drugs – there was no “apparent” reason for the collision! As I have been A Course in Miracles student for twenty years and know that I am totally taken care of by God, all I could think of while being hurled across the intersection in front of turning cars, was “what the heck was that?”! Oh yes, I saw an incredible amount of Light! Amazingly enough I was at the intersection that had the ambulance and police station right there so that within minutes of the crash, I was being totally taken care of ! The first thing that I remember was a gentleman opening my car door and asking me if I was alright and that he was a volunteer EMT, and for me not to move - he would ask me questions and hold my head in case of neck injury and for me to not nod - just answer his questions! (The man had been eating in the restaurant just by the intersection!) Within several minutes of the collision the police and ambulance came and whisked me off to the hospital for xrays etc. All the police said to me was that by looking at the damage of my car ,it was a miracle I wasn’t thrown through the windshield and killed. In fact the only damage I had was a small bruise on my knee and I was back to school the next day! I’d certainly call that A Miracle! By the way – my car was a total wreck! The exciting part of the story , for me, was that the young man that hit me was taken to hospital in the same ambulance as me and while we were being examined by the doctor I asked if he could come into the same cubicle as me so that I could assure him we’d both be okay. As I put my hand on his shoulder I could see he was crying and very scared! The attending nurse said she’d never seen such a happy accident case as, by that time, my housemates (all Course in Miracles students) has arrived at the hospital to be with me and we were all joking and laughing! The next day the young man’s father called me and very tentatively asked whether I was going to file an accident report with the police! Joyfully I told him we “could look at it another way” and he and his son came around to the house that night and with tears in the father’s eyes he told me that he had lost an older son in a car accident several years before and that the whole family had been devastated by legal fees due to that accident and loss of their son and brother! How was I to “know” all this? I could go on with the story of healings that has occurred around the “accident”, but since there are no accidents, I close with my gratitude to God for the healing of my mind through Jesus’ message of love and forgiveness in A Course in Miracles! Thank you, Father. H.K. - Australia |
